Meeting in a log cabin on December 15, 1818, local leaders and settlers formed Hall County out of land acquired from the
Cherokees and the Creeks and named it in honor of Dr. Lyman Hall, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Today Hall County is home to 35 Fortune 500 firms and approximately 300 manufacturing companies. One of the county's newest corporate citizens is the Atlanta Falcons football team; its new practice facility and headquarters is in Flowery Branch. Nearly 42 foreign companies representing at least 10 countries are located in the county. Major employers include ConAgra Poultry, Chicopee Fabrics, Fieldale Corp., Mar-Jac, Warren Featherbone Company and Caradon Windows and Doors.

In addition to its strong economy, the county offers quality public and private education options with its two public school systems, Riverside Military Academy and Brenau University. Residents can also enjoy championship golf courses, Olympic rowing and canoe/kayak facilities, Lanier Raceway and Road Atlanta and many public parks and recreations facilities. Many families enjoy Lake Lanier Islands, a popular recreational lake and water park.

The county is home to 152,235 residents with homes averaging a market value of $153,950. Hall County is 35 miles northwest of Atlanta, situated within the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's no secret Hall County is a scenic place to live, work and play.
